UJAE Friend of the Court Brief: In September 2004, eight state attorney generals filed suit against major

utilities, to force the utilities to roll back emissions of carbon dioxide. The UJAE brief argued for dismissal

of the case. The Brief contains an excellent summary of industrial country efforts to obtain commitments

from less developed countries to limit their greenhouse gas emissions as well as an argument for approaching

global warming solutions through a global treaty rather than through this kind of approach. The complaint

of the Attorneys General was dismissed on September 15, 2005. UJAE issued a press release welcoming

  the dismissal.

The states, however, appealed the case. UJAE has again (March 2 2006) filed a friend of the court brief

  arguing for dismissal.
